Looking back, moving forward to 2026. From Macro Magic to Blog Babble.

Peptides in a bottle

BLUEPRINT by Brian Johnson

“Im going to start a blog,” said me, as we enter 2026. This is not a new year resolution. It’s a new habit, I’m determined to nourish.

I’m one of those people who has a ridiculously hard time expressing myself through the written word. It’s always been an epic struggle to write—and heaven forbid, enjoy it—in school, college, or even when putting together an artist statement. Keeping a journal or diary? Or scribbling about my work? Total chore and a headache.

I always expressed myself in visuals. I will show you an image or sculpture I made, but please, do we have to talk about it??

I’ve had an online presence since the early 2000s, back when the internet was basically dial-up drama and Flash Player dream. It was my creative outlet, through website designs or decking out profiles on MySpace (remember that ancient relic?) and other prehistoric social platforms. This blog? It’s just the natural evolution.

I run my IG blog @polinuchablog and my YouTube channel. Slow but steady. This is where I express myself visually. But I found that there is so much to explore about product design, textures, or how it makes you feel when you hold it in your hand, that can’t be said on those platforms. So here comes this blog.

Before I kicked off Polinucha in 2019, I was out there shooting videos on my iPhone with macro lenses, basically turning into a detective for the tiny world. I just wanted to get up close and personal, intimate. It started innocently with leaves and flowers (nature’s free therapy), then it took me to to my cosmetics drawer. What a fun to look at entire universe of details I’d never noticed. I came to realization that objects have their stories and secrets. Before and After was born, and in the fall of 2019, I won Best Beauty Film at SHOWSTUDIO Fashion Film Award in London.

I even met Nick Knight in London and blurted out the absolute dumbest question ever: “Do you only shoot on iPhones?” Cue my inner panic— I was really nervous.

The COVID era? Oh, it pushed me into making even more content in that same nosy, explorative style, and honestly, it was a blast. We had all the time in the world during those lockdowns—like, endless hours to get weirdly creative while the world stood still.

Fast-forward to present day: here I am, launching this blog. Wish me luck—or better yet, send virtual high-fives!
