Classics in a glass, by Chanel

Beauty begins the moment you decide to be yourself
— Coco Chanel

I really admire Chanel’s design aesthetic—elegant, precise, quietly confident. It’s unisex and effortlessly chic, the kind of object you leave in plain sight on your dressing table or by the bathroom mirror. Those products don’t beg to be used; they know they will be. Their presence is felt the moment you pick it up. Cool glass, reassuring weight—timeless, intentional, unmistakably Chanel.

I’ve been testing two products from Chanel’s LE BLANC line—the Rosy Light Drops and the Multi‑Use Illuminating Base—and used together or alone, they create the kind of fresh, luminous skin that looks effortless yet refined.

LE BLANC Rosy Light Drops

This is a sheer, liquid highlighter with a soft pink pearl that instantly brightens the complexion. The texture is lightweight and silky, blending beautifully whether applied with fingers or mixed into foundation. It doesn’t emphasize texture and gives a subtle, healthy glow rather than an obvious shimmer.

I love using it on my cheeks as a gentle highlight. I do not use it on my forehead, as that tends to create extra glow, which I don’t need. It sits on the face nicely, absorbs well, and doesn’t feel greasy or oily, which is crucial for me. This formula does remind me of MAC Strobe Cream in the Original pearlescent pink shade.
It also has a light rose fragrance.

Best for: Dull and dry skin, or makeup days that call for a natural glow. Go easy if you have combination skin.

LE BLANC DE CHANEL Multi‑Use Illuminating Base

This base works as both a primer and a subtle complexion enhancer. It smooths the skin, evens out tone, and adds a soft luminosity that makes foundation look more refined. Worn alone, it gives a fresh, polished look; under makeup, it helps everything apply more evenly.

I bought this to use as a mattifying primer for my T‑zone. The formula sits on the skin nicely, but it has an obvious white cast after application. It made me look washed out. If your goal is a matte, bright complexion, this can work. I personally don’t prefer the pale look—especially when it makes my skin appear a few shades lighter.

Best for: A lit‑from‑within effect and a perfected base. Combination skin.

Final Verdict

Together, these products create a classic “your skin, but better” effect. However, for makeup minimalists, using both may feel excessive. One glow‑enhancing product is more than enough compliment your foundation or concealer.

Would I repurchase? Probably not. I wouldn’t reach for the Multi‑Use Illuminating Base again, and I would swap the Rosy Light Dropsfor MAC Strobe Cream | Moisturizer + Highlighter.
